Originally a Saturday morning LiveJournal post:

I met Elijah Wood last night at the Bulldog.
I was at Barnes and Noble with Tray, a good friend of mine, earlier yesterday. He mentioned that he had some interesting news so I was intrigued. He told me that a friend of his works at Aveda and was doing a manicure on some girl that had this crazy story. The story was that her friend was graduating from UL Saturday and she's good friends with Elijah Wood - so he's in town. Apparently she went on and on about the things they were going to do but I'm sure the girl didn't take any of it to heart - just passed on the news as Tray did - just because.

Well, I didn't really mention anything about what I thought was a silly conversation.
Later that night, around 10:30 PM, Taylor was texting back and forth a friend of hers that works at the Bulldog. He had been giving her crap about other things for a good hour, so when he told her Elijah Wood was at the Bulldog, she didn't believe him and finally said something out loud like "I can't believe he'd just straight up lie to me like that. Whatever". I asked her what was going on and she told me what the bartender just told her.

I threw the chips we were eating on the coffee table and spread out my arms and started to freak out. I told her about Tray's story as I was gathering my things - she grabbed hers soon after.
WE WERE OFF.

We get there, and we see him plainly, so we don't really know what to do. After standing for about 20 minutes (which is unacceptable - we're there so much and we always have seats), we were finally able to get a booth.

The whole time I'm figuring out how to take a picture without being obnoxious. I was texting my guy friend saying 'omgomg how do i take a pic i'm shaking this is so cool'. During all of this he was 'encouraging' me, telling me to take a pic on 'ohh that's awesome cool do it be obnoxious you'll never see him again just get the pic that's so cool'.

Finally, Elijah (first name basis, obviously) gets up and goes to the bar for another Red Stripe. Taylor and I meandered over there to get beer, ourselves. We finally get right up to him and actually order something. I just stood there not knowing what to do for a minute. I finally tapped him on his shoulder. I apologized for potentially annoying him but then went on to tell him that I really did like him in "Everything is Illuminated" and said 'whatever' to "The Lord of the Rings". Then I politely asked if I could have a picture. He smiled and said that it was really cool and nice of me to come over - not many people had the guts to do it

small note: the camera on my phone was acting up and Taylor didn't know how to work it so Elijah was all concerned and tried to help but we got it.

So I sent my guy friend the picture like he requested. Within seconds he said "OMG I'm coming."
He shows up and apologizes to me. He confessed that he didn't actually believe me and that he was sort of egging me on. So then HE wanted a picture with Elijah. He took me outside to where Elijah had migrated and got his attention - "Hey, can I borrow like 30 seconds of your time?" Elijah stood up (He's really tiny - not much taller than me.), looked at me, and said "Oh hey! The girl with the trees. Cool." THANK YOU JASON MRAZ FOR MAKING SUCH A SILLY SHIRT THAT ELIJAH WOOD WOULD RECOGNIZE.

We got the picture of my friend and Elijah and then lingered to talk for a minute. I asked him how he liked it here, when he got in, etc. Then he looked me square in the eyes and said, "Wow, is that a clove?" I offered one to him and he thought about it but declined. My guy friend offered to buy him alcohol but Elijah said they were covered and might go somewhere else later. Elijah gave me a big hug after our small conversation and said it was really cool to meet.

My guy friend and I went back inside to sit at our booth and revel in the awesomeness. We geeked out and just couldn't get over how cool we were that night.

Don't ever let me say that my life sucks.

day one: weasel crest

this is my drawing for the day. it's for my friend cortlyn's project, "Wax Arguments Journal of Philosophy"
(hopefully he likes it)
(edit: i made some changes to the one i sent him, but this one is more fantastical. so i'm leaving it up)

my new plan: post a drawing here at least everyday. i expect photo responses. i will punch matthew wyble in the face. but yeah. i expect responses.

so he requested a crest with weasels and the face of apollo, and some other stuff. so i made this.
i think the butterfly wings add a nice touch. its sketchy but i hate working with silly computer programs.
